This past weekend, I traveled to Chattanooga for a business conference to reconnect with some of my good friends and colleagues, and while there, I got to connect with one of my good friends, Wilfredo. As we were catching up and talking about life and ministry, the conversations about music and witnessing came up and me informed me about a song that one of the gentlemen he has been ministering to (who is not a believer) told him about how J Cole believes in Jesus and mentioned the song. Javari.

I've grown to respect J Cole and his work over the years, so I took the time to listen to the song Javari. and I can understand why this gentleman was intrigued by the song. As I listened to the song I noticed the many parallels there were to the Gospel.

Since the pandemic, I've been dealing with a lot of dark moments in my life, struggles of betrayal, church hurt, depression, and anxiety, self doubt just to list a few . When I couldn't find words to describe my thoughts and feelings, hip hop helped me uncover light from God's word that I wouldn't have known otherwise.
